ACCUPUCNTURE

Accupucnture is a traditional Chinese treatment for pain management  Acupuncture involves insertion of very thin needles through your skin at strategic points on your body . As key component of Chinese medicine, acupuncture is most commonly used to treat pain. Now a days  it is  Increasingly,   being used for overall wellness and stress management.

Traditional Chinese medicine explains acupuncture as a technique for balancing the flow of energy or life force – known as qi (chi) – is believed to flow through pathways ( meridians ) in your body. By inserting needle on specific points along these meridians, acupuncture practitioners believe that your energy flow will      re- balance.

In contrast many western practitioners view the acupuncture points as places to stimulate nerves, muscles and connective tissue. Some believe that this stimulation boosts your body’s natural pain killers.

PROCEDURE

  • Selection of points = Acupuncture specialist told you the site of selection, If necessary cloths are removed for procedure.
  • Needle insertion = Acupuncture needles are inserted to various depth at strategic points on patients body. The needles are very thin, so insertion usually causes little discomforts. People often don’t feel them inserted at all.
  • Needle manipulation = Practitioner may gentle move or twirl the needles after placement or apply heat or mild electric pulses.
  • Needle removal = In most cases needles remain in place for 10 to 15 min while you lie still and relax. There is usually no discomfort when the needles are removed.

VIDDHAGNI ( AGNIKARMA)

  • Agnikarma – One of the most effective and instant procedure for pain management. Useful in pain of musculoskeletal origin like heel pain, back pain, osteoarthritis, sciatica, frozen shoulder, Rheumatoid arthritis.

    Viddha means needle technique like acupuncture which leads to mechanical stimulus which causes release of endorphins, therapy causing immediate pain relief.

    Viddhagni is combination therapy of needle and heat therapy used to give immediate pain relief. It is a unique combination of two ancient different ayurvedic techniques namely Vedhan karma and Agni karma. Agni karma is described as most effective therapy in the management of painful conditions especially musculoskeletal disorders. Viddha karma is a sterile procedure wherein hollow needles are pierced at specific  points on the body to provide pain relief

PROCEDURE

  • First clean the area where viddhagni procedure should be done.26 no sterile needle  was pierced about 0.5 cm through the skin at a point of maximum tenderness.
  • Using monopolar cautery machine, a minimum setting of 0.50 mHZ and max 2 Mhz is administered to each needle shaft for 2-5 sec depending upon capacity and pain threshold exhibited by the patient.
  • The cycle is repeated 2 more times after 2 to 5 min interval depending upon the capacity of individual patients.
  • Needle are removed and body part is cleaned with sterile spirit. After hemostasis is assured , patient is asked to take rest for an hour.
